Pres. Bush nominates Judge John Roberts--tame response so far

After all the hype, the nomination of Judge John Roberts by President Bush was met with pretty tame response. Judge Roberts worked most of his years as a lawyer appearing before the Supreme Court and only two years as a judge. Hence, he only has about 40 written opinions, and only three that had dissents. So, being young, and of little relative controversy has big advantages, similiar to Judge Souter.

Possible areas of contention are Judge Roberts' position on Roe v. Wade, his support for the President in keeping the energy task force records of VP Cheney secret, and his ruling that the detainees in Guantaneam were not elegible for protection under the Geneva Convention.
