    Thanks Mr. Woulfe!
    We participated in the MDA Freedom ride sponsored in part by Sauk City Harley on Saturday. Wow, what a turn out!
    I am waiting for the final numbers to come in and will let you know!
    We are going to the Black Hills Rally in August. I have never seen Mt.Rushmore or Devils Tower. We will be stopping in at Wall Drug Store to!I will be sure to bring back lots of pictures.

    This weekend we will be attending the Milwaukee Rally. If it goes like last year it will be a great time!
    It's worth checking out at least once. Last year I met Jean Davidson, (grandaughter) She has two published books out.

    I am actually quite tired of the obnoxious bike/Harley riders who think they own the road. We were went to Milwaukee last year the same weekend as the Harley rally and got behind a group of them on the highway to milwaukee. There was one guy who was going a good deal slower than the rest, which is fine however we went to pass and he would speed up so we could not pass, so we would drop back thinking he was finally going to get going, he would then drop back. The majority of them are loud and obnoxious and think they have the right to be that way. I don't know how you can complain about the noise from traffic on East Main, and then drive one of those. By the way we did report him to the state patrol, and they were able to find him and pull him over.

    Good for you rachael! One in ten riders are women and the numbers are going up. I rarely ride in back any more. Lets go for a ride.

    Hello, there are only two lanes, he was in one, we were in the other. we tried to pass and he would speed up . The right lane is for slower traffic, the other for people going to just a bit faster or for some exceeding the speed limit, we were not going to be so rude as to hold up traffic for everyone else. You must be one of the obnoxious bike riders I am talking about.

    My neighbors truck is louder than all three of my bikes put together. If you were to ask my other neighbors whose living room is next to my drive if our bikes disturb them the answer would be no. They barely hear us come and go.

    As far as traffic on East Main I believe my chief complaint has always been trucks using jake brakes. Secondly is the speeding.
    Neither has anything to do with my bikes and my enjoyment of the sport of riding.

    Motorcycle enthusiasts don't need to be defended. Just as with anything else there are good drivers bad drivers etc... E'ville has noise ordinances on the books and so far I have not heard of any one getting a ticket for excessive exhaust.
    Harley has done a great job in the design of the exhaust system. They have been designed to be quiet. However if one were inclined they can modify it to be louder. Just like on some of the pick up trucks around town that have modified exhaust that makes them much louder.

    Interesting, I ride bike, harley to be excact, as I said before. I agree some rider's push it, are rude and obnoxious as some one put it. Are we loud, yes. But so are some cars/trucks. But my self as a rider I try my best to be responsible and that is all I can control. As for barking dogs, she is right this is not the place. My dogs bark as well and I am sure my neighbors love me for it, but this is not the place and had nothing to do with bikes. Dogs bark get over it.

    Sceone what the blue blazes crawled up your butt? You think that bikes are the only annoyance on E. Main Street? That is crazy. If you can hear my bike in your house and it annoys you then I will be sure to be extra quiet going past your house in the future.

    I simply stated my opinion, very nicely, and you got a little hot under the collar. Get over it, I and anyone else on this blog are allowed our own opinions, that does not make us the blog police?

    Not wearing or the wearing of a helmet is a personal choice, to me it is the same decision as whether you wear a seatbelt or not. Not everyone that wears a seatbelt is saved in an accident by them.
    There has been debate over helmet laws for years and probably always will be.
    I don't wear mine all of the time but I am compliant when the law states that I must wear it. Which more states are moving away from mandatory helmets. Pennsylvannia recently changed it's helmet law.
    You have to carry a minimum insurance in Fla. or else you must wear a helmet.
    There are a few known facts regarding helmets,
    They are useless once they have been dropped.
    They have caused catastrophic injury to a passenger on the back.
    They are only tested to 10 to 20 mph.
    If the helmet industry would come up with better helmets you would probably see more people wear them.

    Sceone no matter what you may think I am not hot under the collar,nor am I being testy. However I beleive Mr. Woulfe has the say on what can be written on his blog.
    There are many articles on this blog that start out as one issues and others crop up. May be you should get over it.

    You Mrs. Steinlein are testy as it was put. You may not think you come off that way but you do. From what I can tell from what was posted here, you changed the subject, for someone who does not want to be defended you sure are
    defensive. I can tell you another thing as a nurse your chances of your brain being all over the pavement is alot less likely with a helmet than without one. I see the 'examples' all the time. So don't talk facts and figures, talk
    reality, what I see on a daily basis., and thats just at one hospital, in one county.

    Some people think they lead flawless lives, and no matter what they do they see it as o.k. because they are the one's doing it. But if someone else does the same things they are all of a sudden it becomes a issue.. it seems like one set of rules for you ? another for everyone else?
    You were made the one post brought up the noise from your bike's, you could not really defend it because they are loud, like I said I ride to . But I do not deny they are loud and I don't create reasons to justify them being loud. So you could not really defend it, so you changed the subject, fine. But it sounds as though you picked a subject you could really not defend either. I think you are the one who needs to get over it. Bikes are loud, dogs bark, get over it. Go ride your bike.

    To anon you don't like motorcycles thats your your right. Is unfortunate that bikes have to be lound but society has made it that way because alot of motrists are blind and can't see a 250 pound man on a 700 pound bike with a head light on. we make our bikes louder for the blind driver so they can hear us coming. We do own the road we pay taxes just like any one that drives on the road and have the right to be there.
    Look at what car drivers do that is obnoxious to every one on the highway, tailgating, not using turn signals, exiting the high from the fast lane in just enough time to make the off ramp, speeding,reading,applying make up, yelling at the kids in the back. These are some of the things I have to watch for riding a bike. because people today think they are the only ones on the road there is no consideration out on the roads any more. So loud pipes lets those kind of people on the road know that i'm there.
    Helmets: Its is legal to ride with a helmet and that is my right. for all you people that work in hospitals. how many people are injured falling of ladders every that come in with head injuries. maybe we should outlaw painting your house. How many car drivers come in with head injuries while wearing a seat belt. how about the internal injurys caused by seat belts. Helmets do not cause or prevent accidents. They may or may not safe my life, or they could cause serious injury or death. if I ride bike in a safe manner all my life and avoid all accidents then why do I or did I need to stuff head in helmet to ride. Thanks for your concern. LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES.

    We see far less people who fall off ladders as you put it , than victims of motorcycle accidents. The people who fall of ladders seldom die, or have serious brain injury. apples to oranges comparison there. Cars can not zig in and out of traffic the way motorcyles do, there are 2x as many loud bikes as compared to cars or trucks. Because as you put it yourself, alot of these bikes are loud intentionally. In terms of safety ATV's are worse, and mostly because not that many where protective gear. It is irresponsible not to wear a helmet, I would be embarrassed if I were you for the example you set. Accidents are callled accidents for a reason, you can't control when and where one might happen but you can do things to protect your self.

    I also wanted to add that the arguement that the helmets due not give enough support in a accident is a pretty lame excuse for not wearing one. We see 10x as many dead bike riders who were not wearing one, than those who do. So what you are doing is just trying to justify what you do, when really all it is is a excuse and a poor one at that.
