The current medical system runs on "reimbursement" or payment by third party payors to ensure a consistent flow of cash to sustain the operation of all medical providers. With the news that the average premium for a family of four in the USA has exceeded $10,000, a new threat exists that as more and more employers are diminishing or cancelling their health care coverage, employees will take no or minimul coverage and face the threat of ruin----and providers of care will go back to earlier times when they had to rely on the patient for most of the payment, which led to financial distress for hospitals.
The consequence of all this is disintegration of society as we know it.
