In a surprising move, the Evanville Planning Commission moved to add the property of Landmark into TIF #6. Mr. Connors, Evansville City Administrator explained that in discussions with Landmark, the current retail area of the station is too small for current models of successful businesses and it may be necessary to expand or redesign, or in the event that the DOT is not cooperative in the design of the intersection or changes the intersection to their disadvantage, they may have to "bail out" of the operation.
Click on the post for the audio--it is poor quality and I apologize for this---stay tuned.
It is not clear to The Observer whether the reason for including the parcels in the TIf is because the expansion would result in "increment" that would be helpful, or whether Landmark might need some assistance financially for additional infrastructure expenses--or both. Stay tuned.
