Click on the post for a nice article on the Evansville Physics students who had the opportunity to work at the UW Synchrotron Center. These students were at the Evansville School Board meeting on Monday night and described how exciting this experience was for them.
One of the problems that teachers are presented with is that in an "AP" course where the curriculum is very rigid, there might not be the possibility to pursue these type of opportunities, whereas in a course titled "Advanced Physics" one could have the leisure to put this in the curriculum. This was explained by Supr. Carvin at the school board meeting on Monday night.
This article is a good example of the progress that Physics, and indeed science in general has made over the past decade at Evansville Schools.
