Wisconsin Schools lead nation in development of personal financial literacy curriculum standards---

(Ed. note. "Grumps" alludes to this article in his famous blog. Thanks Grumps.)

Click on the post for the article in the Wisconsin State Journal on the "optional" curriculum that has been formulated so Wisconsin students can be better educated on issues of financial literacy.

How to integrate these matters into each grade level will be the subject of discussion in many Wisconsin schools over the coming years.

Recently I asked several college grads the following question: What would be the impact of potential college students who after reviewing their older siblings debt of $20,000 upon graduation and also considering the $10 per hour with no benefits jobs available-----simply deciding to pay cash for college and ---no debt. Or selecting other educational opportunities that were less "debt leveraged?"

The response I got was: "Huh?"

Nobody had even considered it.
