Re: Evansville's Population

The state Department of Administration just released
its preliminary population estimates as of January 1,
2006. According to this state department, the City of
Evansville's population at the beginning of this year
was 4,896, up 236 from the estimate of 4,660 as of
January 1, 2005. If memory serves, the city's
estimated population increased by about 250 from
January 1, 2004, to January 1, 2005. The city's
population has increased by 857, or 21.22%, from the
January 1, 2000, census population of 4,039. No other
city, village, or town in Rock County has experienced
anywhere close to that much population growth since
January 1, 2000. Evanville's population growth rate
is similar to the rate being experienced by Sun
Prairie and Waunakee in Dane County (but less than
Verona's growth rate).
