Monroe: School: Monroe School Board scrambles to revise budget--referendum and fee increases on table

The early morn meeting in Monroe produced a huge crowd---they all agreed that alternatives cuts were what was desired. They suggested a referendum and fee increases.

When asked about the virtual school at Monroe, the answer was that it is a money maker. The virtual school of Monroe brings in $180,000 per year and helps fund the other educational programs.

The referendum issue may be on the April ballot if Monroe can get the wording finalized by Feb 24th.

Stay tuned.

  1. Sue Hartwig is my hero (and she is a teacher). Maybe school boards should start to consider other insurance programs other than WEDA the next time the contract is due. I would like someone else to talk a little about our school's insurance and benefit policy before we go through the same thing Monroe is
