Thank you Mr Juergens, thank you for wasting our tax payer dollars with non sense. As a council member you should be worrying about the people and happenings of our city not your own political agenda. If you feel so strongly about your belief please call Sen Feingold or Sen Kohl, let Rep Baldwin know your feelings, I have a feeling they would agree with you, and for the council of Evansville to unanimously vote with this is terrible. We are a local government, what you are saying then is anyone with a belief and enough signatures will be able to put anything they want on our ballot. I am pretty sure I can get 200 signatures on a lot of national issues, and on the precident you set last night I should be able to get it on the ballot. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI think Slammer is big PRO Bush,and will defend the mess that man has made no matter what. I think if Slammer had been following anything at all, Slammer would know that Fred is a concerned citizen, and involved citizen.
ReplyDeletemr juergens in response to your posting, I feel that you are paid by this city's tax dollars (not to handsomely) to be a part of our city government not our national goverment. As for not having your own political agenda there is nothing wrong with having one, that is the beauty of this country but again I stress my opinion that you need to seperate national issues and local issues. I understand that there are statues stating you can do this my opinion is it should not take place.

ReplyDeleteAll I have said is we should not involve national issues in local government. A question I have for you then is why don't we talk or have questions on the balott about conceal carry, right to die and abortion?? Your views and mine may greatly differ in a lot of areas, that is fine. There are many issues in town we probably differ on but as a council member let those views be known. If I disagree I should let you know my feelings. That is your job as a CITY council member.

And like our leftist government officals we are not supposed to think, they are supposed to do that for us. I not once put anything about the war in my submissions and of course I got the whole reteric about how the war is bad, Bush sucks.
ReplyDeleteClarice do you even know what your alderpersons have NOT done for you in the years they have sat on those chairs as alderpeople>? You seem to have more negative comments than anything else. Fred may not be my alderperson, but he's involved, try to make changes. What are you doing except complaining about what you don't like? I think in everyone there is good and bad. Fred does not have all the answers. I will be watching and corresponding with him about this Franklin park issue and if I have to, I will let him know exactly what I think, if he proves to have no more backbone than our own alderpersons, when it comes to improving Franklin Park. More importantly Fred J. is going to have to convience the people in his ward that he is the man for the job come APRIL. I will end with at least FredJ does something,
ReplyDeleteunlike our alderpersons who I have taken to issue with over and over again. Pay attention to who is running in our district, walk your self over to his house and talk with him, volunteer to campaign with him or for him. You seem to be so unhappy with so much of what goes on in this town. DO something to make that change. I would not have so much of a issue with your complaining if you did something to make changes. Give it a try you might find it fun and full filling.
I want to clarify, when I say walk your self over to his house, I do not mean the same alderpersons who have been sitting in those chairs for way to long. There is a man in our district running, his name is Wayne Steinlein. On East Main. Honest, and concerned about preserving our ward. ARE you aware that those two who are alderpersons now would have voted for our area to be zoned for commercial use concerning the smart growth plan, had it not involved their street? I spoke with both of them before the night of the vote, and they had no problems with the smart growth plan and were going to vote to approve it the way it was. Guess what they got to the meeting that night, and saw the MAP, and found out the commerial area involved Franklin st, and they changed their minds very quickly. They are not people we want representing our ward, VERY seldom do they vote againest the city!!!! I talked with them both quite a bit the last few years and all the one likes to do is imply we are stupid for not wanting citgo, for complaining about the issues with the street construction. For the traffic issues he has not helped us at all. SO look for change this APRIL and Vote. I know you said in previous posts that you would not vote in local elections. If you are so serious about your concerns you need to do something to bring about change.

ReplyDeleteI agree this Resolution is nonsense. Now if you'd like to see some changes help get the vote out for Mike Andersen & First district Alder Mason Braunschweig. Neither are Evansville"insiders" and are ready to make REAL changes to the way things are done on our City Council.
Who is Mike Anderson ? He should introduce himself. Let us all know who he is. For alpersons we can only vote for the poople from our distirct.
ReplyDeleteMike is the only one who I did not know was running for mayor.They need to do more to let people know who they are. Not just go with the idea that they lived here long enough people should know who I am.
ReplyDeleteSomeone ran againest ringhand in the last election but never bothered to do much campaigning and no one really knew who he was much less he was running. April is not that far off, they need to start campaigning now, and let people know who they are.
I joined this argument a little late, but I signed the petition and find it worthwhile. From the polls I have seen, over 50% of people polled say that the war was simply not worth it, now that we know the reasons that were given were simply not true.
ReplyDeleteOur politicians are not representing us. If city after city passes a resolution calling for withdrawal perhaps politicians will see things differently. If it goes the other way, I guess they will see no need to change because the majority of the voting public supports what is happening. There are going to be elections anyway, it is not a special referendum. This is simply going on the ballot of an election that would be held regardless of whether or not it was one of the items. What is wrong with "taking the tempature" of the people that are politicians are suppposed to represent?
