Fire District Corner: May 2, Minutes; On New Fire Station; On Controlled Burn Procedure

Here is a portion of the Fire District recent minutes:

NEW BUSINESS

Pictures of new truck have been emailed to Chief. Truck will be available for delivery around May 15. Vehicle will be sent out for lettering then off to the demo circuit. Vehicle will be in town for July 04.

Chief questioned whether burning Wind Prairie was acceptable as to City Ordnance. Private citizen in charge of prairie requests this burn every other year.

McCoy questioned whether each party involved in auto accident should be billed the $500.00 user fee; current policy is to split fee between both parties involved. No action taken.

LAND PURCHASE / NEW BUILDING

Chief stated there is a 42’ easement on west side of parcel south of town, next to Water & Light Department. One access to Highway 213 is being verified with DOT. Owner is proposing possible land contract for purchase. Board is in agreement as to acceptability of this parcel for new station.

911-CENTER CONTROL BURN PROCEDURE

McCoy distributed 911-Center control burn procedure. New procedure states citizen will be advised to contact fire department or town board to approve controlled burn in area. Wessels recommends caller be advised to check local ordnance. Main reason for contacting 911-center for control burns was to log fire to avoid fire call.

The next meeting will be June 06, 2006 at 7p.m. at the Fire Station

TO AVOID A $500.00 USER FEE, CALL 757-2244 FOR ALL CONTROLLED BURNS
