Supr. Carvin: Seeks to replace Middle School Principal; No consolidation planned?

Local pundits have been speculating that with the pending resignation of Middle School Principal, Jerry Roth, the Evansville School board might consider moving one of the principals of the High School,(there is one principal and one vice-principal) or one of the other principals to the middle school to address the continuing debate in Evansville over whether administrative is too high.

The answer to this speculation may be in the text of Supr. Carvins remarks tonight to the Evansville School Board. Supr. Carvin states that she intends to recruit for the positions on the outside. It remains unclear whether that will be the final decision. The saving for the district could be substantial with some consolidation.

Supr. Carvin says:

"If we have a budget retreat following the
Board Reorganization Meeting on April 24, I believe we will be able to reach a consensus at the
May board meeting which will still provide time to attract quality candidates. However, in the
meantime, I would like permission to post the positions with the caveat that they are pending
Board approval so that we may begin to review resumes and select candidates to interview as
soon as possible in May. Posting positions does not obligate the District to actually fill the
position.
Human Resource and Middle School Principal Positions: I intend to post these positions
following the Board’s acceptance of the resignations. These will both be challenging positions to
fill. We need to begin soliciting staff participation in the process of hiring a new principal and
attract the best candidates as soon as possible while they are still available.
recommendation. We hope to have this recommendation to the school board by their June 2006 meeting.

No they don't care to save any money or look at any other options.
just spend, spend, spend. I wish I had their checkbook, spending everyone else's money. Must be nice. I think they all need to do some soul searching and look at not replacing Mr.Roth( Mr.Roth you could never be replaced) They could with some changes, do with one less principal either at the intermediate school, and let Mrs Havlik run both, remember it is only one more grade than what the elementry had before, or move one of the h.s. principals to the middle school. When I think of all the money thay 'could' save WOW. They need to think smart, and take their time.
