In the audioblog that follows this post, at 8.40, you can hear Mr. Schwecke respond to the question of Karen Aikman regarding the absence of design standards for East Main of Evansville from Union out to M.
"That's nothing," Mr. Schwecke is heard to say.
More precisely, in the handout, it is proposed in section 3.2 of the section titled "Implementation, that:
"Create a new mixed use district or a series of form-based codes to accomodate residential and small specialty retail and professional office uses on the first floor of the homes located along USH 14, east of Union Street. This approach will allow for transitional use of the area in a fashion that is compatible with existing lot size and architecture as well as the adjacent residential areas."

Why are we going through this again?? Smart Growth clearly keeps E. Main St. from Union to Cemetary Rd. as residential.
ReplyDeleteThis is not fair that we as resints of this city have to continue to fight to maintain our property values. I wonder how the people on Franklin feel about it?
Dick, Please post when the next meeting is that pertains to this topic,
ReplyDeleteAlso would you please interview the two City COuncil members that live on Franklin to get thier take on it.
