I was the 48th voter at 9:25am. Estimating 1700 eligible voters in Evansville (one-third of the estimated 2007 population), we're well on our way to exceeding that paltry 4% predicted in the Gazette. I know our citizens care more than that. Go Evansville!
ReplyDeleteActually, according to a state report given to city clerk James Bielke, one year ago there were 3357 eligible voters in Evansville and 3221 registered voters. At the last Feb primary, Evansville had a 16 percent turnout with 985 voters -- but there was a mayoral primary at that time.
ReplyDeleteToday I was voter number 100 at noon. That would be just under the estimated four percent turnout so far based on last year's eligible voter numbers. (4 percent of 3357 is 134 voters, 3 percent would be 100 voters.)
Get out and vote. It's a great day to do it!

There was around 258 around 5:30pm. I hope everyone voted for Richard and Milissa. I believe they will serve this district the best.

ReplyDeleteI spoke with Jim at the poll. He said that because of the new voter registration system and because of people moving in and out of the city, there are now actually only 1900 registered voters in Evansville. So the first anon was close with 1700. But how does one measure voter turnout?
ReplyDeleteOf the now 1900 registered voters, the 550 (approx) voters would be about 33 percent turnout.
Of the 3357 eligible voters, that would be about 16 percent turnout.
Either way, great job Evansville voters! And Congrats Dick and Melissa!
