Businesses and governments these days love "free" ideas...and last Tuesday, Todd Berry of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, after questions from the Evanville Observer about what the "solution" was to the Wisconsin budget picture as well as specifically about what the solution could be for "Evansville"----gave the answer.
Wisconsin manufacturing will recover...aided by high tech in the manufacturing process. This has already begun. In his travels, he has seen, in the old buildings of old line firms, shiney computer aided manufacturing. The recovery for Wisconsin will be in a V by location in the State and will not be uniform.
As far as Evansville specifically,,,and he waited for the last 2 minutes to articulate it-----we need to refine the message---that we are a community with assets, and the key asset is that we have the perfect LOCATION...we are poised near Madison and Janesville and we have an engaging community where kids, and citizens can get involved. We are a "bedroom community" and that is a plus.
There was silence when he ended his presentation. Why? It is not the bricks. It is the people and the community...and the location. Change the message.

And the last thing was the most impressive. He said...."Of course I could be wrong on this...but that is just my sense of it....."
Remarkable...a public official who says "I might be wrong."
