Who are we making the pitch to, ourselves? I thought we owned 60% of GM, so by rights we should be able to decide where we assemble the "small car line". TN and MI could make the same argument. Wherever the selected plant is located will have a direct correlation with national political pull. I like my odds with Russ and Herb.
ReplyDeleteI want the Janesville plant to reopen, not because I have ties or connections to auto manufacturing, but because I live close enough to Janesville that when "it" starts running downhill, we all will smell it.
I think if J-town is the recipient of this car line, all hiring is to be open to the general public and all jobs can be applied for by any legal able bodied worker. Make positions open to people who will work for $14 an hour and will be happy to do so.
Union or no union, the most qualified and talented should be hired.
