Redevelopment Open House:

RA Smith presented an open house on Tuesday night at Evansville City Hall at 7:30PM and presented some beginning conceptual designs of what "could be" for discussion and input on the Allen Creek Corridor----

The problem with this first period of the study is that BOTH the wealthy landowners and the non-wealthy landowners were NOT consulted--as was specified as STEP ONE in their required project detail. Adams and Co were present and were more than gracious as Chris Eager apologized for the oversight of the consultant.

Mr. Jim Brooks, west side resident noted that the last time development was discussed, the East main community was cut out of the loop, and this looked like a repeat performance.

I am going to withold what I would really like to say and the way I would prefer to say it. With that said, and not knowing all of the details, this could work for the residents of E. Main but more than likely it will work against us. Hence the total lack of notification.
I am sick and tired of having this constant issue come up. On more than one occaision most of us have been to city hall and talked to our alderpeople until we are blue in the face,we have been to meeting after meeting.
AT least Janis RInghand and Bill Connors attempted to open the lines of communication between the 4th ward and city hall. This admistration has unraveled all of the work they did.
THEY DON"T GET IT!! You can't go behind our backs and make plans for our properties.
Typical, just typical of our city government.

To anony, why the hell are you worried about what they are going to do with East Main st, when the city can't even keep the down town full. When they get the down town full and keep it that way for years (5) , then they start looking at East Main,, then worry.

I do agree the city does a horrible job communicating.

It would be a very expensive venture for any of East Main to be developed as they can not take house through eminent domain anymore, so I will get top dollar from any developer that comes along or I won't sell.. I have the time to wait them out.

I don't know what planet you live on but it sure isn't here.
The E. Main aquisitions started with Peg's place 3 years ago, it was rezoned to commercial and Francious put a gas station in, he now owns the next two lots on that side. So your nasty comment shows you don't know squat.
So keep on waiting because the Allen Creek project encompasses only a few parcels of property on E. Main, looks like you'll be waiting a long long time.

Excuse me, you might be surprised who
you are talking to. I think you are trying to make trouble where there is none.

I fought the citgo issue right along with everyone else.

SO IF THIS IS GOING TO TAKE SUCH A LONG TIME

WHY are you having such a fit???

    Why don't you move??

So before you write things as though you are so sure , you are the only one who knows anything ,\
    look around.

Like I said you are trying to make trouble where there is none.

By the way my address is

    East Main St.

I think anon 1, would be wrong. From what I have read and the people I have talked to . The property that Ed owns is not the property they are looking to develop.

I think you are looking for a reason to be angry at Ed and Roger.

    Your excused,
I don't care where you live, look at the map in the exhibit. Your property is not one that is included. So as usual you are talking about something that will have no effect on how long you wait for your property to be bought by a developer. Your the one making trouble.
Why don't you go back and read my original post:
    1- No notification
2- Many meetings to keep E. Main residental as the Comprehensive plan has it.
    3-Communication
4-ALLEN CREEK project, never said E. Main Developement

Seriously Folks So if your property is included in this so called redevelopment why don't you just move.

It does seem like the city wants that stretch of east main st as commercial and will eventually make it commercial regardless of how much xxxxx you do.

The very fact that homes can no longer be taken by eminent domain is a huge plus for you folks.

You could end up getting way more for your property than what its worth. IF you play your cards right.

I read anon2 comments and took it to mean that eventually ( this person did not give time frame.) developers will come knocking and they have no problem waiting for that.

Just because its not on the map today does not mean it will not be on the map tomorrow.

YES they can go behind your backs and make plans for your properties , that does not mean it will happen that way, but they can do it.

You complain about the city not working with you, not keeping you informed about plans, but you ( anon 1) come across very hostile and I don't think I would worry about bending over back words to keep you in the loop, you have to have some responsibility in that. You seem to act as though you are entitled .

Like I said if you are in this ' Plan', really you hold the cards, not the city, not the developer.

I think the reason people think you are creating trouble where there is none is your comment about what Ed Francious? owns???

That has nothing to do with this plan that you talk about, yet you bring it up.

I have talked with several people involved with that deal and there are no immediate plans for that property .

This is america and people can buy property with out you putting in your two cents.

Like I said you sound way to hostile, angry.

    Good Luck to you.
