Press Release: The Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree

Don’t miss out on the Evansville K-5 PTO’s

Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree

Plan to attend the Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree Saturday, October 20th from 6-8 P.M. in the Grove Campus Fieldhouse. This year’s carnival is sure to be a fun family event featuring many carnival games, the ever popular bounce houses, face painting, the Cobweb Café, a raffle, two haunted houses and a pumpkin decorating contest.

The PTO will be offering a range of games where children win a prize with each game they play. Games tickets will be on sale for 50¢ each or 25 tickets for $10. Wear a costume and earn a game ticket! Children may also use their tickets in one of two bounce houses, face painting or a haunted house. The 6-8th Grade Spirit and Cheer Team will be doing this year’s face painting booth. The Evansville Soccer Club will be offering two haunted houses. One scary house will be available for more adventurous children and one friendly house will be offered for more cautious children.

Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree again features creativity with a pumpkin-decorating contest. Children may enter their carved, painted or decorated pumpkins by bringing them to the Grove Campus Cafeteria between 8 AM and 2 PM on Saturday October 20. Each entry earns a game ticket. Local artists will be judging the pumpkins between 2 and 5 PM, with a winner for every grade from Pre-K through 5th Grade. First place winners will earn 5 game tickets and second place earns 3 tickets. All entries will prominently showcase their ribbons during the Jamboree. Our young contestants can retrieve their pumpkins after the event to display at home.

Plan to visit the Cobweb Café for dinner or a treat. The Café will be offering pizza, hot dogs and chips this year, in addition to a wide range of refreshments. Bring five (5) Box Tops for Education to the Café in exchange for a treat.

The PTO has once again organized a raffle this year. Over 50 items or baskets will be raffled off. While the prizes are too numerous to list here, they include family passes and memberships to many popular attractions, gift certificates to local businesses, several theme baskets, a Nintendo Wii (trademark) Game System and a signed Packer football. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for $1 each from 6-7:30 PM the night of the Jamboree. If you would like to purchase raffle tickets before the Jamboree, please contact Mindy Roys at 608-449-8112.

If you would like to volunteer for any of the fun-filled activities listed here, please call Brenda Roth at 757-9339.

Don’t forget to wear your costume! You can break it in early and earn a game ticket!
