Nostalgia: Cutting Back on Pasta, Loading up on Ice Cream---a nostalgia view

One of the classics of all time to treasure, to always remember for Southern Wisconsin residents was the major restructuring that occured in the Verona School District in 2003. Faced with major layoffs, and spending lots of administrative time in drafting the proper language to get the layoffs done, the folks looked out to see the track being resurfaced, at considerable expense.

The now famous, Dr. Conzemius, noted in the minutes:

"
Track Resurfacing
We have delayed the resurfacing of our track for two years because of a variety of budget demands. As you may expect, there is a point where safety and the costs associated with annual maintenance result in long term savings by replacing the surface of the track. The crew began the job this week and will finish with painting the lines by the middle of next week. Given our budget reduction scenario, I thought Board members may want a "heads up" regarding this matter in the event that a citizen asks why we are resurfacing the track when budget reductions require us to lay off staff members. Please feel free to refer people directly to me if they have questions or concerns."
