(Ed. note. The following is a portionof the Fire District minutes of Oct. 3, 2006)

"LAND FEASIBLITY STUDY

Chief commented on Department Head Meeting he attended for City of Evansville earlier in the day. Public Works has recently purchased old Piggly Wiggly property on south side of town. Discussion as to whether EMS will move to that location was discussed. Also discussed was moving Police to Dean Center and use of current Fire Department building if vacant. Chief stated his concern to locating the fire station at the best location for all municipalities and best interest of the Fire Protection District; felt parcel south of town would allow for best access into and out of station during a fire call. Mayor Decker stated City felt they would like to keep Police and EMS in close proximity to each other. Decker also stated if Fire District were to purchase a parcel it might be feasible for Police to move to current fire department building with EMS located at Dean Center. Wessels stated need to decide whether Fire District should apply a short-term space availability concern by adding on to current fire building or a long-term fix by purchasing land and building a larger facility. Evansville Council member stated concern regarding best location for fire building. Chief stated if fire department were to locate south of town difference in response time for calls would be minimal. City of Evansville Council Member in attendance questioned whether Fire District and Senior Center might share building space. Wessels stated he would like name and phone number of contact person for Senior Center to gather information. Town of Porter Council Member questioned issue with current building. Chief stated would like to add 2 truck bays and extend training area. City would like 1st option on current fire building if it becomes available. City feels definite need for an appraisal of current fire building.
