Dane Albright, member of the Evansville Initiative and one who helped put up the wind turbine at the high school, spoke on the engineering---suggested that the new turbines are not the old turbines---the new turbines coming to Lena this summer are the type suggested for Union---getting real data should be easy--Need to compare apples to apples

    Great points. This was one of the few speakers who stayed within the guidelines presented by the Plan Commission.

    I would like to address the speakers interest in comparing apples to apples. That is a fair statement. Though I am no sound expert, from what I understand sounds propagate differently in different terrains and landscapes. What I mean is, sounds are specific to where they occur, so Illinois may not be Evansville to a sound meter.

    Most importantly though, this is a town of Union large wind ordinance, not an Eco Energy, WPPI, or Acciona ordinance. This ordinance covers ALL large wind turbines, so ALL potential manufacturers need to be considered. The 2nd Amendment is not limited to a Ruger .22 or Springfield 30-06. Your point is well taken, but to narrow the scope ( pun intended ) of the research to one of the several turbines in use is not fully responsible.

    His points were mostly valid. I only wish the doubt he tried to create as far as the ordinance using "dated material" was substantiated with highlighted or experted examples and not just stated as fact. Newtons Three Laws of Motion are extremely old, but as accurate today as back then. Science does not have a "time window". Most, if not all of the information in the ordinance is supported by recommended sources of the developer(s).

    Your input and knowledge would have been greatly appreciated at the large amount of public open meetings the study committee has held in downtown Evansville over the last half year.

    There may also be a misconception as well that the residents in the town of Union who support the ordinance as proposed are against wind energy. It was stated over and over last night, and is the main point people need to take with them regarding this issue.....RESPONSIBLE SITING. Please don't make this a Pro-Wind vs. Anti-wind, because, for the most part that is not the case.

    I find it unprofessional of Eco Energy that they hand out "Wind Energy Supporter" tee shirts to there supporters and the local landowners who have signed with them. It would have been a nice gesture if they were available to everyone in attendance. If you can drop 10 million for these turbines, I think a couple Fruit of the Looms tees would be in reach.

    The developers call this a community wind project, based on "Teeshirtgate" they are fans of segregated communities.

    All in all I wish there were more statements like this and not so many unrelated stump speeches.
