New Ethanol Station Opens in Monroe; Initial price .85 per gallon

Badger State Ethanol opened its station in Monroe to lots of fanfare with politicos in attendance. It is not clear in the article how long the price of .85 per gallon will last.

Click on the post for the entire article in the Janesville Gazette. What a wonderful win-win transaction for farmers and consumers. It would be wonderful to see a station such as this in Evansville.

  1. I am in the market for a new minivan and I am interested in one that is E85 compatible, eventhough there currently aren't many stations around Madison or Janesville. Hopefully E85 will come to Evansville. I think the logical place for this fuel would would be at the co-op owned gas station. Maybe they will offer this fuel in the future.

  2. I know ethanol is controversal. It may not be the best solution to our energy needs, but sometimes you have to take baby steps to reach your goal. We should never lose sight of developing environmentally friendly energy alternatives, but until that is accomplished, I'm all for ethanol coming to Evansville. Our country would be stronger if more things were "made in the USA." Anyone know where we can convert our older minivans?

  3. It isn't possible to convert older vans, mainly due to EPA regulations.

I am not sure why dodge got away from having all caravans E85 compatible, but the 98-2003 caravans are E85 compatible. 2006 Caravans are E85 compatible if they are a fleet vehicle, otherwise they are not. You can check which vehicles can use E85 at:

  4. Exxon Mobil Corp. had a quarter for the record books. The world's largest publicly traded oil company said Thursday high oil and natural-gas prices helped its third-quarter profit surge almost 75 percent to $9.92 billion, the largest quarterly profit for a U.S. company ever, and it was the first to ring up more than $100 billion in quarterly sales.

Makes you wonder how much of the recent price increases were justified.
