I read the Cap Times piece. The usual Cap Times cheap shot.

The situation in this country is too serious to spend a trillion borrowed dollars on political pork, Chicago style. Examine the bill for yourself if you think I exaggerate.

We will have to borrow a trillion dollars from the Chinese to finance this bill. We got into this mess by borrowing and going into debt like crazy people. We bought trillions of dollars worth of stuff from the Chinese and Japanese using money the Asians loaned to us. The country is deeply in debt. Not deeply as when you dig a grave with a shovel but deeply like at the bottom of an oil well. So going a trillion more into debt is going to help us get out of debt? How the heck is going another mile deeper in debt is going to help us? We need to get out of debt, not go deeper in debt! What the heck has happened to America that this vote buying boondoggle is even on the table?

OK, say that borrowing another trillion dollars from the Chinese is in the cards to pay for a "stimulus". At least take the money and hand it out to the average Joe instead of the politically connected. That way, each person in the USA, man, woman, and child, legal and illegal, would get a $3,000 check tax free.

Of course we would have to repay the money. So what, though, because we are going to have to repay the money anyway. Better the cash goes to us than to them.

If the writer of the Caps Times story thinks that the spending bill passed by the House, is going to bring new industries to Janesville, I would like to know how? Janesville had the unfortunate short straw this past year. GM is gone, forever. Everyone related to that industry locally is done as well. GM just took a few more years than the other local giants to fold. Eventually, Janesville will fully transform into Youngstown, Ohio.
It will take some time, but after Janesville bleeds out, the powers that be will have to think differently than they have. Huge scale manufacturing is done in this area. I've worked it. Giving health care to people because they will not go to McDonalds, Kwik Trip etc. and work full time for benefits is not to the benefit of the whole. Work two jobs, sell plasma, or start beading necklaces. People need to take responsibility for themselves. The job of the U.S.A.'s government is not to change diapers and burp you. It is to provide you with certain rights as provided by the Constitution. I hate to sound like a ditto head, but I actually agree that we are leaning more towards socialism than a capitalism based democracy. I hope I'm wrong.

If your tibia is fractured in three places, going to the doctor twice a day and having new casts applied does not make it heal faster. This situation just needs time. It's tough love. Eventually people will come out of their shell. I fear that President Obama is more focused on things that FDR and Lincoln have done, than what his own creative and original ideas are. When they were president, their ideas were new and inventive, that's why they are regarded the way that they are.

This spending bill will define the next four years. One side is going to look real smart and the other side is not, both sides are "all in". The problem is, it doesn't sting as much when your playing with the houses money.
