    Just some random thoughts and questions, but does anyone know when was the lease last renewed, if the current expires in 2014? It seems odd that the idea of the Library expansion was not mentioned back then... but then again, at that time, most likely, the current library expansion was not in place...

My memory on this subject might be in error, but I think the city's 5-year capital plan used to reflect that the city hoped to purchase the post office building in 2009, when, as I recall, the lease used to expire. So I think the lease term was extended by five years, to 2014, after I ceased to be city administrator in July 2006, even though the owners of the building were aware that the city was interested in purchasing it for library expansion.
