Travelogue;:The Pretty pretty City gets a big surprise:
Sometime back our fair city competed for the title of the number one pretty city in the nation...and came up number two in our size class to none other than Stillwater, Minnesota, a town dear to my heart, for that is where, at the top of the bluff overlooking the St. Croix river, almost every weekend, my dad would take us to cook hamburgers at Pioneer Park...it still is there...
So when we arrived in Hudson a little early Friday, I invited some friends to meet us in Stillwater for dinner...but as we headed into town, the traffic came to a stopstill...and then...as we crept along, I saw the signs for parking at $10 a spot....yes one of the bridges had been closed, but in all the rush to put Stillwater on the map for tourism, nobody has done much about parking for the past 20 years....so we made a big U turn and met in Hudson instead....Stillwater got the dream, but a little more than it bargained for....stay tuned.
