JEDI Virtual Charter Grant
I have submitted the grant on behalf of Evansville, Edgerton, Lodi and DeForest. We hope to hear by mid
July if it is approved. While we had originally hoped to build in more services for our at-risk students, the
funds will not stretch as far as our ideas are taking us. Any services we provide to support students in the
Virtual Charter will be done on site, in the high school. We will work with 6-12 staff next year to plan
further for alternative services needed by our students and may apply for another grant in the future. This
grant will primarily cover the equipment, training and course development for the growth of the JEDI
Virtual School and expand its coverage to 8th grade.

Someone please clarify, grant money.

Then what?????
Go to the citizens of Evansville and ask for more to run this program???
Is the idea to get them hooked and then say we have to have this???
It would be cheaper to hire another ebd teacher.. then to have to fund this program.
Mostly the grant will be used for equipment and training. Virtual offerings have been used by Monroe, Janesville and Appleton and many, many other schools and are ways of taking students from our district if we cannot have similar offerings--I believe Monroe has over 200 students in their virtual school and this is listed on the right of the Observer.
ReplyDeleteI see this grant as a baby step of Evansville but a very necessary one in staying competitive. It could affect a wide range of students.
