I would appreciate it if you would post this message on the Observer blog site.

In the Morningridge Subdivision in the City of Evansville, the Plan Commission recently approved dividing the parcel at the eastern edge of the subdivision (bounded by Brown School Road on the west, township residences on the north, the old quarry on the east, and USH 14 on the south) into two parcels.  On the southern parcel created by this division, John Morning is constructing a building to lease to commercial tenants--some people have called this a "strip mall."  On the northern parcel, a developer is seeking the Plan Commission's approval at the May 1 meeting to construct an indoor entertainment center--bowling alley, arcade, banquet facility.  It appears that due to the close proximity of the words "strip" and "indoor entertainment center," some people have gotten the idea that someone is proposing to bring "adult entertainment" (i.e., a "strip joint") to the east side of Evansville.

This is not true.  Adult entertainment is not a permitted use in any zoning district in the City of Evansville, and is a conditional use only in the I-3 district. The only land in the City of Evansville that currently is zoned I-3 is located on the south side of Water St. near and including the city's waste water treatment plant and former dump.
