Park Board Recommends no Referendum on Lake Leota

"H. Parks and Recreation Board Report
(1). Recommendation to move forward with dredging Lake Leota without a referendum at a cost of $1.4 million, dependent upon the City Administrator’s success with getting the neighboring property owners to allow dumping of dirt on their properties."

  1. Not surprisingly, I don't disagree with this recommendation.

    Does the Common Council have the final call or is this the decision?

    I can understand both perspectives on this issue. I am not aware of a budget surplus in the city, I am FOR a referendum, I think at this time and with this issue, it is the citizens call. The Park and Recreation Board needed to let the people make the call on this one.

    It is not a waste treatment plant, where there is no choice, or everyday needed infrastructure improvements.

    The council needs to put this on the ballot and let the people decide the reservoirs fate.

    Look you don't even know how much it is going to cost. 1.4 to 2.6 mil. So what does that boil down to per tax payer. I want the bottom line. Then a referendum. GIVE US THE REAL NUMBERS. STOP PLAYING GAMES. If S.O.L.E. is so good why can't raise the money to get it down with out using taxes. Come up with ideas.
