The reason as well why law students who don't have to take the bar if they went to a law school IN Wisconsin is because they are tough. Very Very good law schools.

Since I graduated from an out of state law school, I had to take the Wisconsin Bar Exam. And while that was probably the worst two days in my life (it was a 16-hour exam), I still remember what the head of the Board of Bar Examiners told all of us who gathered for the information session the day before the exam: She said, "Most of you will argue how unfair and unnecessary the bar exam is. But, well over half of you will pass, and then you won't care about the issue anymore." That's exactly what I went through. In retrospect, while the exam seems to 'validate' a person's 3 years in law school, I'm not sure it weeds out 'bad' lawyers. Gerry Spence had to take the Wyoming Bar Exam five times, and yet he went on to make millions as a lawyer. He's one of a number of lawyers who experienced the same fate. Pardon the obvious pun, but for me, the jury is still out on the issue. Judge Tom
