Last night, Rep. Brett Davis was the lone Republican in the Wisconsin Assembly to vote to accept the compromise proposal of Gov.Doyle.

The first link in the chain of compromise is a tough one. Let's hope others will join the effort to get the budget done so schools and cities...and taxpayers can breathe and budget in a proactive way.

Brett took a tough vote to try to get things moving. Now he's taking grief for it from the Miwaukee squawkers. goodness knows, I've disagreed with Brett on a lot of things but he doesn't deserve the vilification coming from the etremists who would hold our budget hostage through Christmas.
