It was a little startling. Sitting at the biodiesel dedication and hearing Gov. Doyle herald Evansville as the "green" city. With no "Green" homes. etc. However even if one starts out being a "green wannabe" it signals a dream to come.
Click on the post to read of the new school busses. Not totally green at a whopping 12 mpg. but doubling the economy of the past.
Think about it relatively, 6mpg may be at the Hummer level, but keep in mind how many kids it carries, so the fuel efficiency per child makes it much more worth it.
ReplyDeleteDoubling it to 12 is amazing, and factor that by how many in the future that will be replaced. Al Gore is proud.
Being green is important, I think we just need to scale it down some. Start with your own vehicles if you can afford it. Our busses are fine & getting better gas mileage still wouldn't cover the costs to replace the 13 regular route busses in our fleet ($2.6 million?!?) for MANY, MANY, MANY years to come. I think most would agree, we don't need to see our taxes increase even more.
