Forty plus years ago, if you lived in the Twin Cities, and if you worked as a scientist, advertising executive or well....anything at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing....it meant just one thing. You were living the good life. You were on the upward track. It seemed that half of St. Paul worked for the firm, or at least half of the folks I knew.
Now speed forward in time. Click on the post. 3M had blessed St.Paul by placing its plants surrounding their sacred headquarters that is on the right as you enter St. Paul on Hwy 94. With the discovery of serious groundwater contamination recently, this means that St. Paul is a little island surrounded by a big moat of contaminated water.
Now. Many communities are drinking bottled water. And not as a status symbol.
How quickly those 47 years have gone. I would never have dreamed something like this could happen.
But...Now....that we know how quickly the future can come and how devastating groundwater contamination can be.......
Nobody in their right minds would seek such a problem would they?
The cynics would say that contaminated water would certainly restrain unchecked residential growth. Yes. It would.
Stay tuned to the Evansville Observer. No beer, bait, ammo, or sports. No fluffy little puppy stories either. Just local news.
