WSJ: The Challenge for Biodiesel

Click on the post for the article in today's Wisconsin State Journal about the current state of biodiesel----namely that several plants are scheduled to begin production or begin construction at a time when soybean oil prices are high and gasoline prices are low. This combination makes it a possible shakeout period for the industry.

From the article it appears that plants that are fuel neutral, or can burn several different types of fuel would appear to have a better chance of success.

I have always been suspicious of the way gasoline just plunged from 3.25 to 2.25 around election time. But then, I just watched the movie, Syriana, last night. That does have a way of making one a little suspicious of the manipulation of oil prices and other entities.

I am looking forward to the alternative fuel industry success, and would like to see higher gasoline prices at a more realistic level.

You make the call.
