Mailbag: Denise Frey Writes: Evansville Girls Cross Country Makes History--10 Conference Championships in A Row


The Evansvile Girls Cross Country team made history last night. They traveled to UW Whitewater to run at The Rock Valley Conference Meet. The cold, wind and snow couldn't stop the team from once again bringing home the Conference Championship, making it their 10th straight championship in a row. The girls finished out their season undefeated once again, making it a decade of being undefeated. Great job!! Emily Thornton finished 2nd, Heather Patterson 4th, for first team all conference, Alyssa Keister 8th, Megan Cox 9th, Ainae Soetaert 12th,and Carly Hutchins 14th , for 2nd team all conference,and Kaia Schoenenberger 15th for 3rd team all confernce. The boys also ran great in the conditions and made us proud. Ryan Ammerman had the race of his life and was the Rock Valley Champion by placing 1st. Jake Gay 11th for 2nd team all conference., Dylan Bjugstad 16th, Josh Gallman 20th, Zach MsDoungh 21st for 3rd team all conference, and Evan Arnold 29th and Ryan Reisem 38th. This gave the boys a second place finish at the conference meet. After adding to their season score they placed 3rd overall. Great job guys!
The girls j.v ran a tough race and took the first 5 places. Leah Heimerl 1st, Emily Grant 2nd, Kelsey Knudson 3rd, Mary Cunningham 4th and Erin Heimerl 5th. Awesome season! What a way to finish out your season.
