School Beat: Art Phillips speaks: On Open Meetings; On Public Participation in School Decision Making

this is an audio post - click to play

Prior to casting the lone dissenting vote against the motion to approve seasonal groundskeeper positions as well as another position for maintenance, Art Phillips explained his objection as due to the fact that this matter had been tabled at the previous Monday night meeting till "the next regular meeting," and thus the specially called meeting did not allow the public to participate.

In addition, several options to the proposal were suggested during the board meeting that provided possible alternatives that should be investigated prior to any action.

I like Art, he is not afraid to say NO. Art you ever get tired of the school board scene we could use you on city council.

Is Art the only one who is looking out for the taxpayers? Art is never afraid to express his views in a highly professional manner.
