Back to the Future: 1970: It was the last summer before The Wisconsin Journal was to switch over to computers. The unions were outraged. The etchers and engravers that transformed the ads into solid lead molds were frustrated that their livelihood itself was on the chopping block. This was the summer that The Evansville Observer himself was a copy boy and saw how the newspaper biz works.
Flip to the Present---Some think that the battle is between print and media. NO. If you click on the post you will see an article on the new LEE Enterprises that owns The Wisconsin Stae Journal and also a media empire on-line. The objective is total domination of the information flow. O.K. The total domination fantasy in the news biz.
I know what youall are wondering. Will the Evansville Observer take on this monolith of on-line power? The executive committee of The Observer did meet in secret session recently. I am sworn to silence. Stay tuned as events unfold.
I worked in the 1970's for Control Data as we took on IBM for anti-trust law violation....we fought to break up the monopoly, and it happened when the government took down Ma Bell. David will always down Goliath - sometimes just because he is so unwieldy.

With all of the recent mergers and aquisitions, it seems MaBell is back.
