  1. I am including a link that claims this methodology is flawed. It claims that using these same calculations, gasoline is a net energy loser.

Just throwing this out there for conversation's sake. I don't have the scientific background/knowledge to refute either sides of this argument.

I saw another article a while back that said coors beer in colorado is selling its wasted/spent grain from the brewing process to a nearby ethanol refinery. Does this change the equation in favor of ethanol? This grain would otherwise be disposed of as a waste byproduct of brewing beer. Is this a viable ethanol source for a refinery in brewing towns like Milwaukee or St. Louis (obviously spent grain from brewing would not solve our energy crisis, but may be a good source for someone in the business of refining ethanol)?

  2. Did anyone see the Wisconsin State Journal story about the Milton plant. They are missing some sort of permit or waiver and the construction is being stopped.

  3. I don't know much about ethanol other than what I read. Here is the article:

I know brewers typically don't get near 100% efficiency, but it would be logical to think that they would have taken most of the usefulness out of the grain.

I don't really have a strong opinion on this subject. I have read several different viewpoints and to be completely honest I don't have enough scientific background to decide which point of view to believe.
