Dateline Lake Leota; Wed, am; Last Duck heads South

It was Wednesday morn, 7am, the duck and duckling were near the dam, with the duck staring intently at the small sign, a little faded for wear, that stated in italic bold letters, "Dam Ahead."

It was not clear to the Observer whether the duck was upset by the fact that there was no lake left, but only a puddle and a vast moonscape of muck or whether the duck might be upset by the signage that was not up to local code. There is also no evidence that the duck reflected on what to do in the event of unexpected change.

Suddenly, smoothly, the duck lifted off and left for others below to clean up the mess.
