You know you are are in an alcoholic culture when all the dj's of drive time radio stations are aging white haired baby boomers and each morning they are talking of their hang-over. Excuse me. I remember these guys from the 70's. How could they have any brain cells left after all those hang overs. Oh.
Anyway, the UW finally got its dream of being the #1 Party school in the nation. What a wonderful recruiting tool. As a parent what would you think of taking some of your retirement money and helping your child achieve that presitigous degree?
Does the UW have any credibility as an academic institution left? Click on the post for the entire story. You make the call.
It sure is sad to be
ReplyDeleteknown as Number 1 Party School in the Nation.
This attitude that young people at the U.W. seem to have about drinking did not just happen over night, and its not going to ' just' change. Maybe someone can fill me in if I am wrong but, I did not think this was the 1st time the U.W., was ranked the no.1 party school, and did officials not vow the last time to change that perception? I don't know maybe we came in no.2? We were at the top of the heap tho.
ReplyDeleteIs the UW credible? Come on.
ReplyDeleteSome dumb media mag reports us as #1 party school and all of a sudden we lose our credibility? Was anyone awake when the WI State journal did that Sunday front page on Hector DeLuca of UW Biochem? Or the discoveries of Neal First, Babcock, or one of the hundreds of cutting edge scientists at the UW?
Are we forgetting the 'Silicon Valley of Biotechnology' designation? Take a hike down Science Drive lately?
College students drink beer. Big whoop. The dumb Halloween partiers aren't the ones landing the endowments and doing cell cultures.
They can call the UW whatever they want, it won't shatter our reputation for brave research.
