I never want to hear people in this community complain about high property taxes.

You cannot have it both ways.

Keeping the half day program is not going to make taxes go up anymore than what they would have.

Now adding NEW programs, that would raise taxes.

In fact, keeping the last half-day kindergarten class reduces the potential revenue stream available if these students went to a full day. This $30K to $40K per year, depending on the full day teacher's salary, that would be "saved" are attributable to increased revenue. This is an INCREASE in your property taxes. The division is approximately 2/3 from the state and 1/3 from local property tax.

This program was already in place is the point. It has always cost us what it has cost us. It is not a new cost.

As stated a actual ' NEW' program would raise taxes, taxes that we have not had before.

I haven't been clear. I'm the 3rd anonymous. I was trying to say that the decision made on Monday to continue offering half-day kindergarten is the lower tax option. The "cost savings" being touted by the administration is an increase in revenue to the tune of $30,000-$45,000, $10K to $15K of which would be the responsibility of the local tax levy. So it seems that everyone but the first anonymous agrees that continuing the half-day kindergarten program is a tax savings. Sorry if I was unclear.
